Function
Summary:
The primary function of the position will be to manage the McLanahan carrier base and 3PL provider, and quote and coordinate outbound freight activities to support the timely, accurate and cost effective means for shipment of customer orders.
Essential Functions/Key Accountabilities:
Follow direction provided by Director of Materials Management or designee.
Maintain a safe working environment by adhering to, and enforcing, all safety procedures and policies inside and outside the facility, including use of personal protective and McLanahan equipment as required.
Represent McLanahan Corporation in a positive manner both internally and externally while adhering to the organizations core values.
Communicate effectively with co-workers, management, customers, and others in a courteous and professional manner.
Develops a packing plan and load schematic to support a final pack list for a project order and ensures all departments involved meet the requirements for a timely and accurate shipment.
Provides the business unit cost competitive freight quotes for prospective project and large parts orders.
Ensures the carrier base and 3PL meet the standard McLanahan insurance and contract agreement on every shipment.
Monitors and tracks carrier performance through McLanahan service level metrics (cost, quality, delivery, serviceability) Communicated daily with team members, production, quality, project management and customer service in a professional and timely manner on specific freight arrangements for an order.
Monitor adherence and train internal departments on developed and available freight management quoting and tracking tools.
Physical Requirements:
This position is typically located in an office setting and requires sitting and standing for long periods of time.
The position requires ambulatory skills sufficient to travel domestically and internationally.
Requires good hand-eye coordination, arm, hand and finger dexterity, including ability to grasp, visual acuity to use a keyboard, and operate standard office equipment.
Requires the ability to express or exchange ideas by means of both verbal and written communication.
Ability to maneuver (move, carry, lift, etc.
) 50 pounds frequently.

Educational/Other Requirements:
High School diploma or GED required.
Four (4) years of experience working in logistics or transportation.
Excellent leadership and organizational skills with prior supervisory experience a plus.
Prior experience with carrier negotiations, 3PLs and freight claims a plus.
Computer literacy including MS Office applications, also able to utilize TMS, ERP systems.
Experience with Load Optimization tools and/or system a plus.
Flexibility to work shift as assigned, including a various start, end and break time schedule.
Able to work in any type of environment, due to the changing weather.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to rely on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
Ability to successfully reach company goals in an environment in which a wide degree of creativity and latitude is required.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
